Abstract
Some basic issues regarding conditional probability, both in the Bayesian framework, the Borel-von Neumann-Wald approach to decision-making, and the Kolmogorov theory, are formulated and discussed. The issues are illustrated by examples from survival analysis and tail-index estimation.
